The Red Box, Sydney
In October 2012 CONFINED under went a 10 day creative development at The Red Box. The development was specifically to translate elements and aspects of the site specific work undertaken in Alice Springs to the stage.
Producer Tammy Brennan and Director Younes Bachir worked with the same ceative team to experiment with a fixed audience perspective.
Dancers and musicians from Alice Springs were brought to Sydney as part of the process. The live music ensemble was extended to include flute, percussion, as well as musical saw and kora.
A unique and specifically designed rigging system was designed by Alejandro Rolandi and Joey Ruigrok Van der Werven, that allowed walls to move, open and close.
Other elements like choreography, video, lighting, costume and set were also futher explored.
A private audience of 80 people were invited to attend a 60 minute showing of the outcomes of the 10 day development. The full length stage version of the CONFINED is yet to be produced.
